About us

Welcome — I'm glad you found us.

Freshwater Finds is a small, hobbyist-run fish room in Middle Tennessee. Everything here was bred or grown out in my own tanks. I'm not a transshipper and I don't drop-ship from a wholesaler, so when you order, you're getting a fish I've had in front of me for months.

What we raise

Dwarf cichlids, angelfish, catfish, plecos, and livebearers, plus mystery snails and aquatic plants to go with them. Stock changes as spawns come up, so it's worth checking back — and if you're hunting for something specific, just ask.

Conditioned before they ship

Some species are raised in water tuned to what they need — soft water for the fish that require it. But every fish is conditioned before it ships, so it isn't going straight from specialized water into your aquarium cold.

That matters more than it might sound. A fish that's never seen anything but carefully tuned water can struggle when it lands in a normal home tank. Mine are prepared ahead of time, which makes settling in a much shorter, easier transition for them and for you.

How your order is packed

Fish are fasted for a day or two before shipping so they travel in clean water. Each one is bagged individually in treated water, double-bagged, and filled with pure oxygen rather than air. Everything goes into an insulated, foam-lined box that holds temperature through the trip.

It's more work than most people expect, and it's the reason fish arrive ready to go in the tank instead of worn out from the journey.

Shipping and live arrival

Choose UPS Next Day Air and your order is covered by our guaranteed live arrival. If anything arrives dead, take a photo of the fish still in the unopened bag within 2 hours of delivery and send it over — I'll take care of you.

Slower shipping methods are available at a lower cost, but they aren't covered by the guarantee — the risk is yours on those. If you're ordering during a heat wave or a cold snap, Next Day is the way to go.

Questions? Ask.

One of the best parts of buying from a breeder is that you can talk to the person who raised the fish. Curious how a pair spawned, what the parents look like, or whether something's a good fit for your setup? Send a message before you order. I'd rather help you pick the right fish than sell you the wrong one.

Thanks for stopping by

Thank you for visiting Freshwater Finds. Whether you're setting up your first tank or you've been at this for years, I appreciate you taking a look at what I've got going. Every order here goes out from a real fish room, packed by hand, and I don't take that lightly.

Hope to send some fish your way.
